I started rowing again a couple of weeks ago and I decided to work on another marathon! For my marathon in 2008 I used a plan created by someone in Australia and it was VERY serious with a total of 6 months preparation. I had shoulder trouble almost the whole time and knee and back trouble part of the time! I didn’t feel well when I did the race but finished in about three hours 18 minutes which was respectable. I did another one about a month later too.
I stopped rowing for about a year to give my back and tailbone a chance to heal up. My tailbone is fine now and my back is pretty good.
This time I had the training wizard in rowpro prepare a training plan. The max it will create is 14 weeks so I did that. So far I am only rowing 4000 meter/day very easy concentrating on technique. Unfortunately I already feel a cool sensation on the top of my toes which probably mean some minor nerve pinching. I’m glad that I’m starting out slowly and hopefully I can work through it. So far my tail bone is fine!
