Redmine continued

I hope to continue work on Redmine this weekend.  The last thing that I’ve done is to install hMailServer.  According to the hMailServer home page:

hMailServer is a free e-mail server for Microsoft Windows. It’s used by Internet service providers, companies, governments, schools and enthusiasts in all parts of the world.

It supports the common e-mail protocols (IMAP, SMTP and POP3) and can easily be integrated with many existing web mail systems. It has flexible score-based spam protection and can attach to your virus scanner to scan all incoming and outgoing email.

Without an email server, the mail functions in Redmine won’t work.  When working in linux I have never had a problem with server mail functions.  With linux, sendmail is automatically installed and configured to relay mail and works pretty automatically.  On the other hand, with windows, I have never successfully gotten mail to work when I have tried.  Most notably, I’ve set up a wordpress blog on my PC and never gotten mail notification to work!  So this should be an interesting experiment (once again), and I’m not overly optimistic!
