I was notified of a Google Apps upgrade yesterday. I had the option of upgrading manually immediately or wait until some time in May and having my accounts upgraded automatically. I’m kind of excited about it because the main feature of the upgrade is that most all functions of gmail are now available for Google Apps accounts, even being able to log in at the regular gmail login page. This should make it possible to use my apps account to authenticate in certain instances where a gmail account is usually required
I chose to upgrade manually which was very easy. You had the option of upgrading all accounts or just ones of your choosing. I chose to upgrade all. All were upgraded except the one account that I really wanted upgraded, my Kor account. Apparently, there is nothing I have to or can do about the failure. I received the following message on my apps management page:
One or more of your accounts cannot be transitioned at this time.
Currently, there is no action you need to take. We are in the process of wrapping up some necessary infrastructure work to ensure that the transition for those users will be a seamless process. Once that work has been completed, we will notify you and you’ll be able to transition those users at that time. Learn more
It seems that this is usually caused by conflicting accounts. A conflicting account would be if I had created a gmail account with the same name as my apps account, i.e. firstname.lastname@example.org. I didn’t even know that it was possible to do that, so that can’t be the cause of the transition failure in my case!
